-          Work of fishing men out of the sea of sin is the greatest work of the church.

  • Proverbs 11:30

Beloved, it all began in Matthew 4:18-22

1)      Jesus chose His partners very carefully (vs. 18)ܚܸܠܡܲܬܟܵܖܹ̈ܐ ܣܲܪܲܣܬ – ܓ̰ܪ. 18

  • John 15:16, John 6:70, John 13:18ܝܘܚܢܢ ܝܗ:16، ܘ:70، ܝܓ:18

2)      We have several different calls of the disciples in the gospel

a) The call of salvation

  • John 1:29, 36ܝܘܚܢܢ ܐ:29، 36

b) The call for being fishers of men

  • Matthew 4:18ܡܬܝ ܕ:18

c) The call of fishing for men only

  • Luke 5:1-11ܠܘܩܐ ܗ:1 – 11

d) The call of apostleship

  • Mark 3:14ܡܪܩܘܣ ܓ:14

e) The call of going out too preach with power

  • Matthew 10:1-16ܡܬܝ ܝ:1 – 16

3)      Three different methods of fishing

  • Line, drag net, casting net (Matthew 13:47, 4:18)ܡܬܝ ܝܓ:47، ܕ:18

4)      The qualities of the disciples and fishermen

a) They were not humble, not forgiving, terrible at prayer meetings, no courage, and no spiritual understanding

  • Matthew 13ܡܬܝ ܝܓ
  • Mark 6:12ܡܪܩܘܣ ܘ:12
  • Matthew 18:3ܡܬܝ ܝܚ:3

b) Fishermen have patience, they persevere, they have courage, they seem to have an eye for the right location to fish, and they always stay out of the sight

5)      How did Jesus evangelize

a) He was always available and among people

b) He had no favorites

c) He was very sensitive to the need of sinners

d) He always took the time

Conclusion – “You may say, “I don’t have a passion for anything like winning souls for Christ.” Try obeying, that is where it all begins.”
