Introduction –

  • What is the greatest blessing that God can give to a people?
  • What is the greatest curse that can possibly fall on a church?

-          Jeremiah 5:30-31ܐܪܡܝܐ ܗ:30 – 31

-          Jeremiah 23:1-2ܐܪܡܝܐ ܟܓ:1 – 2

-          Ezekiel 34:2-3ܚܙܩܝܐܝܠ ܠܕ:2 – 3

-          II Timothy 4:3-4ܒ. ܛܝܡܬܐܘܣ ܕ:3 – 4

-          II Peter 2:1-3ܒ. ܦܛܪܘܣ ܒ:1 – 3

Jeremiah charges the false prophets with three crimes

1)      They’re given to covetousness (6:13)ܫܲܗ݉ܘܲܬܵܐ

a)       They covet the praise of man

-          John 12:42-43ܝܘܚܢܢ ܝܒ:42 – 43

b)      They covet money and possessions of this world

-          I Peter 5:2ܐ. ܦܛܪܘܣ ܗ:2

c)       They covet titles and honor

-          Matthew 23:6-10ܡܬܝ ܟܓ:6 – 10

2)      They deal falsely with the people (6:13)ܟܠܵܝ ܥܵܒܼܕܵܢܹ̈ܐ ܕܚܸܠܛܵܐ (ܠܹܐܒܵܐ)

How does God deal with his people?

-          Psalm 119:9ܡܙܡܘܖ̈ܐ ܩܝܛ:9

-          I Peter 2:2ܐ. ܦܛܪܘܣ ܒ:2

-          II Timothy 3:16-17ܒ. ܛܝܡܬܐܘܣ ܓ:16 – 17

3)      They heal the hurt slightly (6:14)

Let me show you from the scriptures God’s way of giving peace

1)      Before man can speak peace, he must be made to feel his S – I – N – Sܚܛܝܼܵܬܹ̈ܐ

-          David (Psalm 51:3)ܡܙܡܘܖ̈ܐ ܢܐ:3

-          Job (Job 42:6)ܐܝܘܒܼ ܡܒ:6

-          Isaiah (Isaiah 6:5)ܐܫܥܝܐ ܩ:5

-          Paul (Romans 7:24)ܖ̈ܗܘܡܝܐ ܙ:24

2)      Before man can speak peace, he’s got to acknowledge the S – I – Nܚܛܝܼܬܵܐ

-          Genesis 3:17ܒܪܝܬܐ ܓ:17

Conclusion: Hebrews 3:12ܥܒܼܖ̈ܝܐ ܓ:12
