Faith

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

The younger Son

Request (vs. 11)

Rebellion (vs. 13-16)

Repentance (vs. 17)

He takes full responsibility for his sin

  • He sets his course toward God
  • He knows that he has no more rights as a son!

Younger son has a plan! (vs. 18-19)

  • Make me one of your hired men
  • Mathew 18:23-25

The Loving Father

  • Luke 15:20

His father is kind and generous and good.

His father is not a hard man.

His father is not an indifferent man. 

The Reception (vs. 20) is not according to their teaching

Father was available 

While he was still a long way off, his father saw him. 

His father is initiating the reconciliation. Why?

Because, he wants to protect his son from the Shame. 

How does he do that?

        • He felt compassion
        • He ran!
        • He embarrassed him

The father is doing exactly what Jesus did

The shock is that all this happened without any works

Then the son makes his speech 

  • Luke 15:21

But the son left something out

  • Luke 15:19
  • Full repentance, full faith, and no works
