Self Righteousness, the greatest enemy – Part 2

• Introduction
  • Self-righteousness is a false assurance. It’s a false refuge. It’s a false comfort.
  • What is your hope?
• Here is our problem:
  • Man, today, doesn’t think he needs mercy.
  • Some people are too good to be saved. Saved from what?

• Both went to church. They were different in character.

• They were different also in their approach to God
  • Luke 18:11-13
  • I Timothy 1:15
• They both left the church
  • Luke 18:14
• Pharisee came…
  • He came rich in merit
  • He came rich in self-righteousness,
  • And he went away empty under the judgment of God.
• Publican came…
  • He chose to approach God empty handed.
  • He chose to approach God as a needy sinner
  • And God did what He said He’d do.
