Introduction

God’s wrath and judgment against Israel and Judah

o   False prophets, Famine & Darkness: Isaiah 8:19-22     ܐܫܥܝܐ ܚ: 19 –22

Our Lord Jesus fulfilled this prophecy

o   Matthew 4:12-16ܡܬܝ ܕ : 12 –16                                     

We should be thankful for the Preaching of the Gospel that:

1)      Gives Light To Those Who Sit In Darkness (v. 2a)

^{2 ܐ} ܒܲܗܪܵܐ ܓܘܼܪܵܐ: ܝܵܬܒ̣ܵܢܹ̈ܐ ܒܐܲܪܥܵܐ ܕܛܸܠܵܢܝܼܬܵܐ ܕܡܵܘܬܵܐ:

a)       All men and women by nature live in total spiritual darkness.

i)        The Jews were God's professed people, but they lived in utter darkness.

o   John 3:5-7, 10ܝܘܚܢܢ 3 : 5 –7 ، 10                            

ii)                   We are the same

o   Ephesians 5:8ܐܦܣܝ̈ܐ ܗ : 8                                       

o   I Corinthians 2:14ܐ. ܩܘܖ̈ܢܬܝܐ ܒ : 14                                 

iii)     God teaches us about:

o   Our Heart: Matthew 15:19ܡܬܝ ܝܗ : 19                       

o   His character: Exodus 33: 18-19ܡܦܩܢܐ ܠܓ : 18 –19            

o   Christ’s atonement: Romans 3:24-26ܖ̈ܗܘܡܝܐ ܓ : 24 –26       

o   Salvation: Ephesians 2:8-9ܐܦܩܝ̈ܐ ܒ : 8 –9                    

b)      Before salvation we lived in the land of shadow of death

o   Romans 5:12ܖ̈ܗܘܡܝܐ ܓ : 12                                         

c)       God sends the Gospel into our heart and we see the Light of Life

o   I Corinthians 1:23ܐ. ܩܘܖ̈ܢܬܝܐ ܐ : 23                                   

2)      God multiplies the nation – His people (v. 3a).

^{3 ܐ} ܡܘܼܙܝܸܕܠܘܼܟ̣ ܡܸܠܲܬ: ܐܸܠܵܗ̇ ܡܘܼܓܘܸܪܘܼܟ̣ ܚܲܕܘܼܬܵܐ.

o   Isaiah 55:11ܐܫܥܝܐ ܢܗ : 11                                            

o   Matthew 18:3ܡܬܝ ܝܚ : 3
