Who is this Jesus and why did He die on the cross?

Introduction:

The whole world is divided into TWO questions

1)      Who is this Jesus of Nazareth?ܡܵܢܝܼ ܝܠܹܐ ܐܵܗܵܐ ܝܼܫܘܿܥ ܢܵܨܪܵܝܵܐ؟   

2)      Why did He die on the cross? ܩܵܡܘܼܕܝܼ ܡܸܬܠܹܐ ܥܲܠ ܙܩܝܼܦܵܐ؟      

I.            Who is this Jesus of Nazareth?

a)       Pharisees and religious leadersܦܖ̈ܝܼܫܹܐ ܘܓܘܼܖ̈ܵܢܹܐ ܕܟܲܗܢܹ̈ܐ

o   John 6:42, Matthew 13:55, Matthew 11:19, Mark 3:21-22

b)      Angelsܡܲܠܲܐܟ̣ܹܗ ܕܡܵܪܝܵܐ  

o   Matthew 1:20-21, 23, Luke 2:11

II.            Why did He die on the cross?

a)       He died because it was His Father’s Will. ܪܸܙܵܝܵܐ ܕܒܵܒܵܐ

o   Revelation 13:8, John 2:4, John 8:20, John 12:23&27, John 17:1,
Isaiah 53:5, Acts 2:23, Acts 4:28

b)      He died that He might be Lordܗܵܘܹܐ ܡܵܪܝܵܐ

o   Romans 14:9, Matthew 28:18-19,

c)       He died to declare God’s righteousnessܡܲܩܘܸܚ ܙܲܕܝܼܩܘܼܬܹܗ ܕܐܲܠܵܗܵܐ

o   Romans 3:25, Hebrews 9:12&24, Ezekiel 18:4, Romans 3:26

d)      He died to put away sinܒܵܛܸܠ ܚܛܝܼܬܵܐ

o   Hebrews 9:26, I Peter 3:18, John 10:14-15, I John 1:7
