Scripture: Numbers 21:4-21:9
Introduction
o Our Lord uses this scripture to illustrates the Gospel to Nicodemus
- John 3:14-18ܝܘܚܢܢ ܓ:14 –18
1) The people rebelled against God (Vs. 4-5)
o They were discouraged because of THE WAY!
- Hebrews 3:19ܥܒܼܖ̈ܝܐ ܓ:19
o The people spoke against God.
- I Corinthians 10:9ܐ. ܩܘܖ̈ܢܬܝܐ ܝ:9
- Isaiah 53:6; 55:8ܐܫܥܝܐ ܢܓ:6، ܢܗ:8
o The people found fault with the bread from heaven and water from the rock.
- I Corinthians 10:4ܐ. ܩܘܖ̈ܢܬܝܐ ܝ:4
- John 6:51-52; 55-60ܝܘܚܢܢ ܘ:51 –52، 55 –60
2) The Lord sent fiery serpents among the people (Vs. 6-7)
o Because of their sin of murmuring and rebellion
- I Corinthians 15:22ܐ. ܩܘܖ̈ܢܬܝܐ ܝܗ:22
o There was no human cure for the fiery serpents' bite
- James 1:15ܝܥܩܘܒܼ ܐ:15
o The people entreated Moses to intercede for them with God
- Psalm 106:43-45ܡܙܡܘܖ̈ܐ ܩܘ:43 –45
- Daniel 9:9 ܕܢܝܐܝܠ ܛ:9
3) God provided a remedy (Vs. 8-9)
o A serpent was made in the likeness of the fiery serpents.
- Philippians 2:7ܦܝܠܝܦܣܝ̈ܐ ܒ:7
o The serpent of brass had no venom, as Christ had no sin
- Hebrews 4:15ܥܒܼܖ̈ܝܐ ܝ:15
o The serpent of brass was lifted up on a pole. So Christ was lifted upon a cross
- Isaiah 53:5-6ܐܫܥܝܐ ܢܓ:5 –6
o There was but one remedy—the serpent on the pole.
- John 14:6ܝܘܚܢܢ ܝܕ:6
o All that the people were required to do was LOOK.
- I John 5:11-12ܐ. ܝܘܚܢܢ ܗ:11 –12
