Introduction

§  The army of the Philistines has gathered on a hillside (vs. 1)

§  The army of Israel had gathered on the opposite side (vs. 2-3)

§  Two large armies stood looking to each other and the 9 feet tall giant, Goliath, stepped out (vs. 4)

§  Goliath challenged the soldiers of Israel (vs. 10)

§  David had come alone to bring his brothers some food, and got involved in this (vs. 13-17)

§  All of us have faced some big giant in our lives, and they seem too big for us to handle.

§  But there is hope if we will learn from this historical account and do as David did!

 

I)        The Things We Hear Can Cause Us To Fear (vs. 11)

§  Things we can hear have tremendous influence on us.

§  Those words brought discouragement and fear

 

II)      The Things We Can See Cause Us To Fear (vs. 24)

§  That was not the kind of reaction that you expect by trained soldiers who had fought and won many battles.

 

III)    David Saw Goliath, But David Did Not Fear (vs. 22-26)

§  What was the difference between David and the train soldiers of the army of Israel?         

§  David was a shepherd boy who learn how to depend on God

§  One day we will be confronted with a giant, and we will recognize that the only thing we can do is trust in the LORD

 

IV)    Why Did Not David Fear When He Heard and Saw the Giant?

§  David was able to talk without fear (vs. 45-47)

§  David walk able to walk without fear (vs. 48)

 

Conclusion
