Make them a king!

Introduction

§  Samuel, Hannah's son ("asked of God"), remained with Eli, the priest and prophet of God, and ministered unto the Lord before Eli

§  Samuel became God's prophet and judge in Israel

§  When he was old, Samuel made his sons judges over Israel; but, like Eli's sons, they perverted judgment, took bribes, and displeased the Lord

§  The elders of Israel came to Samuel and requested that he establish a KING over Israel, like the nations about them

§  The people of God have no king but Jesus Christ, the Lord

§  The request of the elders displeased Samuel, and he knew it to be evil.

§  It is His Kingship that men refuse to bow to.

§  There are those in modern religion who talk of accepting Jesus as their Saviour but not as their Lord. This is an impossibility!

§  The Lord told Samuel to tell the people what to expect when they reject His reign and make a man to be king over them

§  The Lord said, “Make them a king”.

§  The first order of business of new King, Saul, was to reject God's way of atonement
