Introduction

• Mary was engaged to be married to Joseph.
• Both Mary and Joseph were of the house and lineage of King David.
• But Mary was found to be child when she was engaged to be married.
• Deuteronomy 22:23-24ܬܢܝܢ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܟܒ:23 – 24 

What Joseph thought when the angel told him the name of the child?

Jesus means savior

• Matthew 1:21ܡܬܝ ܐ : 21 

Joshua (Hebrew) and Jesus (Greek) mean the same thing – Savior

1) Joshua led the people into the Promised Land

• Numbers 20:10-12ܡܢܝܢܐ ܟ : 10 –12    
• Romans 8:3ܖ̈ܗܘܡܝܐ ܚ : 3                
• Matthew 1:20-21ܡܬܝ ܐ : 20 –21        

2) Joshua smote their enemies
And our Joshua, Jesus Christ defeated our enemies, too!
