Christ is Risen, The Messiah – Part 3

Introduction –

Salvation comes to those who believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.

Messiah means to spread a liquid cover, to anoint.

• Jeremiah 22:14ܐܪܡܝܐ ܟܒ:14 

Objects were anointed

• Exodus 29 & 40ܡܦܩܢܐ 29 ܀ ܡܦܩܢܐ 40

Three people in the kingdom where God ruled were messiahs, anointed.

• Kings, priests and prophets
  • Exodus 28 & I Kingsܡܦܩܢܐ ܟܚ ܀ ܐ. ܡܠܟ̈ܐ

Jesus is the Messiah. What does that mean?

1. The first point in the office of Messiah is divine selection.ܦܪܫܬܐ
   • Divine selection of a king, priest, and prophet
     • Deuteronomy 17:14-15ܬܢܝܢ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܝܙ:14 – 15 
     • I Samuel 9:15-17; 16:6-13ܐ. ܫܡܘܐܝܠ ܛ:15 – 17، ܝܘ:6 – 13 
     • Deuteronomy 18:5ܬܢܝܢ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܝܚ:5 
     • Numbers 3:3ܡܢܝܢ̈ܐ ܓ:3 
     • Jeremiah 1:4-5ܐܪܡܝܐ ܐ:4 – 5 
2. The second point is the office of Messiah is divine authorityܗܘܟܡܐ
   • Divine authority of a king, priest, and prophet
     • II Samuel 23:1-2ܒ. ܫܡܘܐܝܠ ܟܓ:1 – 2 
     • Deuteronomy 17:8-12ܬܢܝܢ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܝܙ:8 – 12 
     • Jeremiah 1:6-9ܐܪܡܝܐ ܐ:6 – 9 
3. The third point is the office of Messiah is divine empowerment for serviceܚܝܠܐ
   • Divine empowerment for service of a king, priest, and prophet
     • I Samuel 10:6; 16:13ܐ. ܫܡܘܐܝܠ ܝ:6، ܝܘ:13 
     • II Chronicles 24;20ܒ. ܒܪܝܡܝܢ ܟܕ:20 
     • Ezekiel 2:1-2ܚܙܩܝܐܝܠ ܒ: 1– 2 
     • Micah 3:8ܡܝܟܼܐ ܓ:8
4. The Lord Jesus is the complete King/Priest/Prophet in one person.
   • I Timothy 2:5ܐ. ܛܝܡܬܐܘܣ ܒ:5 
   • Isaiah 59:2ܐܫܥܝܐ ܢܛ:2 

Conclusion: Jesus the Messiah – perfect King, perfect Priest, perfect Prophet.
