Introduction –

1) Shameless request - Luke 15:11-12ܛܠܲܒܬܵܐ ܕܠܵܐ ܢܚܵܦܬܵܐ (ܓ̰ܪ. 11 – 12)

Give me portion of goods - ousias(oo-see-ah) – (vs. 12)ܗܲܒ݉ܠ ܠܝܼ ܣܵܡܵܐ ܕܡܸܢܕܝܼ

  • Inheritance kleronomia(klay-ron-om-ee’-ah) includes all the responsibilities.

2) Shameless rebellion – Luke 15:13-16ܝܵܐܓܼܸܝܘܼܬܵܐ ܕܠܵܐ ܢܚܲܦܬܵܐ (ܓ̰ܪ. 13 – 16)

  • This young man demonstrates someone who’s gone as low as you can go,
  • Picture of a sinner that are all the way to the bottom in a Gentile country,
  • Living in outrageous and immoral way, helpless!ܠܵܐ ܗܹܒܼܝܼ ܘܕܠܵܐ ܐܲܠܵܗܵܐ ܓܵܘ ܥܲܠܡܵܐ

3) Shameful repentance - Luke 15:17-19ܬܝܼܵܒܼܘܼܬܵܐ ܡܲܢܚܸܦܲܢܬܵܐ (ܓ̰ܪ. 17 19) 

  • Father enters the mind of the sonܒܪܘܼܢܵܐ ܒܸܬܟܼܵܪܵܐ ܝܠܹܐ ܠܒܵܒܘܼܗܝ
    • This is where repentance really begins – an honest assessment of one’s conditionܐܲܗܘܵܠܵܬܹܐ ܕܓܵܢܘܼܗܝ 
  • Remembers that his father is Generous ܒܵܒܘܼܗܝ ܐܝܼܕܹܗ ܦܵܬܘܼܚܬܵܐ 
    • Leviticus 19:13ܟܗܢܐ ܝܛ:13 
    • Matthew 20:1-16ܡܬܝ ܟ:1 – 16 
  • The son has a plan ܒܪܘܼܢܵܐ ܐܝܼܬ ܠܹܐ ܚܵܕ݉ ܢܲܩܫܵܐ

He has to get back to save himself from his sin. He is headed for eternal destruction
