Introduction –

  • It is Wednesday of the final week of His life, 2 days after His triumphal entry.

1)      The Parable

  • That is quoted from Isaiah 5 that was well-known to the people of Israel.

o   Genesis 9:6ܒܪܝܬܐ ܛ:6 

2)      The Interpretation

  • The man who planted the vineyard is God.

o   Isaiah 5:5ܐܫܥܝܐ ܗ:5 

  • The vineyard is the people of God, Israel.
  • The tenant farmers and vine growers are the religious leaders.

o   Romans 9:4ܖ̈ܗܘܡܝܐ ܛ:4 

  • The long journey is the Old Testament history.
  • The harvest time is the appropriate season when God expect a spiritual harvest.
  • The sales are the Old Testament prophets, preachers and priests.
  • The nation Israel, what did they do with the prophets? Beat them, treated them shamefully, wounded them, killed them, threw them out.

  • What will the owner of vineyard do?

  • The apostles, those Galileans. are the new stewards?
