Introduction

  • Jesus went right into the garden of Gethsemane where He knew that Judas would lead the force that would come to arrest Him.
  • John 18:4ܝܘܚܢܢ ܝܚ:4   
  • John Calvin said, “The body of the Son of God was bound so that our souls might be loosed from the cords of sin and Satan.”
  • Here we see two different dramas – the drama of the trial and the drama of the denial.

Scene One: Jesus’s Trial (vs. 13-14)ܕܝܲܢܬܵܐ ܕܝܼܫܘܿܥ (ܓ̰ܪ. 13 – 14)

  • Why did they bind Him up?

  • Disciples fled and Peter was following Him a far off

  • The first lie started with a lie to a slave girl.

Scene Three: Jesus’ Trial (vs. 19-24)ܕܝܲܢܬܵܐ ܕܝܼܫܘܿܥ (ܓ̰ܪ. 19 – 24)  

  • This is to be a legal arraignment. But they had already decided they wanted him dead. This was not a trial, this was a murder plot.

  • Rooster crows it’s 3:00 am. In the black darkness, he just keeps denying, keeps denying, keeps denying.
